This Week at St. Timothy’s
For the Week Beginning November 15, 2009

Most loving Father, whose will it is for us to give thanks for all things, to fear nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on you who cares for us: Preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties.

--The Book of Common Prayer

Have a Blessed Week,
Jozetta, Richlyn Ophelia & Stacy
MoST

MoST encourages everyone to contribute to our Annual Thanksgiving Gift Certificate Program to feed needy families in the community during this holiday season. As in recent years we no longer distribute food baskets, but gift certificates for families to shop for the items they desire. Donations are due November 22, 2009.  Contributions may be made with the general offering, but must be clearly designated as MoST Thanksgiving Assistance, or given directly to Julius Copeland or Friason Travis.

Tickets are available for a donation of $10 each. Contact Jozetta Robinson on (202) 369-6010 by Sunday, November 29th if you are interested in sharing your gift. The word “Advent” means “to come or show up”. It’s a time for self examination and asking for forgiveness as we spiritually prepare for Christ’s coming. Your prayers and presence are requested as we journey through Advent. During our study series, we will read, think through and discuss how to “prepare him room”, led by various presenters. Come and enjoy fellowship, a light lunch/supper, discussions and the Eucharist each Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. (December 2, 9 and 16).

Our Prayers

A Prayer for Children -- Gentle Jesus, look kindly on those children who have been denied the gift of a safe and happy childhood. Protect them from abuse and neglect and let them find comfort in Your love and protection.  Help all of us to show sympathy and compassion to troubled children whose words and actions test patience and understanding. Let these children see the world as the beautiful place You created. Help them find the courage to overcome their fears so they may learn to trust and love.  Grant those who have young lives entrusted in their care Your wisdom and kindness so they may provide the kind of love all children need to grow and mature. Amen.
